Missed April. Not sure why! This post will be brief but hopefully show that I’ve done some riding!
As you can see, I’ve got around a bit. I think we can see the Scottish Boarders, Yorkshire (home area, York and Settle), Cheshire, Sevenoaks, New Romney and Dover! It’s amazing what happens when they relax lockdown and you have a van!
So we have been visiting family and friends and tackling some climbs in the process. If you check out my Strava you can see I’ve done about 14 climbs from the various 100 Climbs books which considering the appalling weather we have had is decent going, if I do say so myself.
The current scores on the doors are:
If the weather stays nice I’d like to knock another 10 off in June. Let’s see how that goes eh?
The other thing that’s happened is I did a maiden 10 mile Time Trial. A local club, Darlington CC, runs a weekly TT on the T103 route. It’s a nice flat course and if the wind is right it is pretty fast.
I ended up with a time of 25:53 which I was delighted with considering I was on my road bike and dressed for a normal ride. I did bin off my saddle bag but had cages and a bottle on the frame so not very aero. I think when I try again I can really aero the bike up by dropping the stem, getting rid of the cages and tightening up the clothing. Anyway it was a great laugh and I’m looking forward to doing my next one.
Apart from that not much cycling wise has occurred. Oh, I’ve had some issues with my Zipps – they need new bearings. The front is done and the rear is getting done next weekend so I’m using the £100 Shimano set that are as solid as ever. Brilliant wheels them!
Mileage is a tad down but I’ll put that to the weather and my weight has gone up 3lbs and again I’ll put that down to the weather… and the week away in Kent on the drink every night!
Have a safe June everyone and I hope the weather stays at least a bit warmer!
Edit – Passed 3,000 miles last week – not too shabby if I do say so myself!
