Scottish football is in a mess, but they have no one but themselves to blame. The stakes are high when running a club as you have a responsibility to your fans to run the club correctly. Paying taxes comes under this banner. Fans will be disappointed with relegation if you are unable to financially compete but certainly would be less pleased with the club going out of business due to a winding up order from HMRC.
It amazes me that so many clubs consider their tax responsibilities second to paying obscene wages to players and throwing money into transfer and agent fees. Paying taxes should be the first thing that a club considers, especially when considering a successful club like Rangers can easily be put into administration by HMRC.
It’s about time football club owners sorted themselves out and lived within their means. Get the taxes paid before signing players or paying silly player wages.
